The results are in for one of the most competitive ASA T-30 Challenges in
recent memory.
With more than a 20 per cent increase in entries
compared to 2011, the 2012 Challenge - in which individuals or teams swim as
far as they can in 30 minutes - saw 276 competitors in the individual event.
The men’s event saw entries from the youngest age group
(18-24) up to Bill Moore who set a new record of 1705m in the 75-79 competition
and Mike Banfield whose 1525m was a new best in the 80-84.
It was a similar story in the women’s event with Jane
Asher topping the list with a record 1645m in the 80-84 competition and entries
in all younger age groups apart from one (75-79).
There was more success in the team event with another
45 entries overall.
